A print head is a consumable, not a permanent part — a white line running down every label, print that is lighter on one side, or barcodes that need several scan attempts all mean the head is near the end of its life. Replacing it is far cheaper than replacing the printer.

Before you order

Print heads are model and resolution specific — a 203 dpi head will not work in a 300 dpi machine.
Have the printer model to hand, or the part number printed on the old head.
Replace the platen roller at the same time if it is glazed or grooved; a worn platen will destroy a new head.
