What the work covers
- Print head replacement — the most common repair by a distance. A white line down every label, print lighter on one side, or barcodes needing several scan attempts all point at a worn head.
- Platen roller replacement — a glazed or grooved platen will destroy a new print head, so the two are usually checked together.
- Sensor and media path — gap, black mark and ribbon-end sensors, and the feed path they depend on.
- Cutters, rewinders and peelers — the add-on modules that tend to fail before the printer does.
- Firmware, drivers and calibration — including getting a printer talking to your ERP, WMS or billing software again.
- Preventive servicing — cleaning, alignment and a head-life assessment before a printer fails in the middle of a shift.
Why the printer is not the only thing to check
A surprising share of "printer faults" are consumable faults. A ribbon narrower than the label wears the print head unevenly. Abrasive label stock shortens head life. Too much darkness set to compensate for a tired head accelerates the wear. Because we supply the labels and ribbons as well as the printers, we look at the whole setup rather than just replacing the part that failed.
